4 Ways to Maintain Mental Clarity

by Jasmine Price

Are you feeling the stress of the mid-year? Is there too much chitter-chatter on your mind to focus on your work or passion? Well look no further because we have some quick tips to help dodge stress and find your balance.

#1 – Ditch the Snooze Button
Starting your morning off with a positive ritual is truly the ultimate method of de-stress. A quick walk around your neighborhood, listening to a favorite radio show, or even working on your business plan before your full-time job starts, can serve as motivation to start your day off early. Schedule out personal time for your mornings so that you feel in control of your day.

Many of us lie in bed even if we are awake, or hit the snooze button a couple of times. Instead of lying around, thinking of “what ifs” and “should haves,” dump the snooze button and push your morning forward with passion and positivity.

#2 – Dump Your Coffee for Fresh Juice
Juicing fresh produce is a sure way to increase energy, cut calories and dismantle the sluggish-morning-blues. Many people are jumping on the “fresh juice” bandwagon because it is such a quick way to get your daily servings of produce without planning out 1-2 servings per meal. So why not trade a mug of coffee for a glass of fresh juice? You’ll get the same dose of energy, more nutrients than you could imagine, and you might even shed a pound or two of unwanted belly fat.

#3 – Take a Moment to Zone Out
While meditation is a seemingly simple act to de-stress, it is so much more than sitting in a quiet room with crossed legs and burning incense. Meditation is a long battle between releasing anxiety, fear, doubt, etc. and consuming positive vibrations or energy. It is so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of our everyday schedule that we forget to retreat into ourselves. Meditation allows us to cultivate empathy for ourselves and the world, as well as practice the art of reflection.

Whether it’s before your morning cup of Joe or on your lunch hour, the best time for mediation is always right now.

#4 – Write Your Authentic Feelings
Personal journals our like little friends who will never stab you in the back or talk about all your embarrassing moments from college. Journaling is something you can do almost anywhere; in the office, at home, on the bus, at the park… everywhere!

Let go of negative energy by writing troubling and irritating thoughts out on the page. There’s no reason to hold on to the anxiety or the doubt because the pages hold it all. Journals can also be used to treasure lovely memories or inspirational mantras.

So start writing today, and let your journal be an exhale of emotion, a scrapbook of thoughts, and a constant reminder of your personal growth.
