Mentoring
We are excited to announce the outline for the 2008 WBE to WBE Mentoring Project.
This project will bring the experience and guidance of our successful business owners to other members, who may be just starting out or who might be looking for a Mentor. In addition, we will use the expertise in specific subject areas that our sustaining members have to offer and make that available to the mentoring teams throughout the duration of the project.
Important requirements to be a Mentor are:
- You have been in business at least five years
- You have one or more employees
- You have the time to dedicate a few hours a month to your mentee
- You will coordinate the use of internal and external resources to assist your mentee
- You will keep all details of the mentee’s business confidential
Requirements to be a Mentee:
- You must be a WBE member, either the owner or an employee
- You have time to dedicate to the Mentor / Mentee relationship
- You have one specific goal you would like to reach during the project
Applications will be taken until January 31, 2008 for the 2008 project. The project will kick-off on February 15, 2008 and run till December 1, 2008. Meeting requirements are at least once a month and there will be a Mentor/Mentee orientation session February, a mid-project meeting in May, and an end-of-project meeting in May.
