At the 2018 Summit and Salute Conference, WBENC honored Claudia Mirza as a Women’s Business Enterprise Star for her business accomplishments, her inspiration to other women, and her leadership and vision as CEO and Co-founder of Akorbi. Akorbi was founded to help companies build compassionate, human connections, to increase their global or diverse market position through innovation, language, and people.

As a WBENC-Certified WBE since 2007, Mirza’s company has constantly evolved to meet the needs of its customers. For example, Akorbi launched a compliance division to help clients with HIPAA Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Service rules, healthcare reform mandates, quality management and fraud, waste, and abuse. Ms. Mirza found an opportunity to build even more relationships through WBENC, “since becoming certified, I have grown and become much more empowered as a business owner,” said Mirza, “When I started Akorbi in 2003, I was shy and I did not believe in myself. Since becoming certified, I have become much more confident. And my fellow women business owners have embraced me both personally and professionally. “

Mirza is a passionate businesswoman that encourages aspiring entrepreneurs, “the United States is one of the most wonderful and supportive countries in the world for business. It’s built around the entrepreneurial spirit. Not every business idea is successful, but my advice is to keep trying until you get it right.”

Mirza has received numerous awards by the Women’s Business Council - Southwest, as well as local and national recognition. Believing it is important to give back, Mirza instituted a program to support the Dallas-metro community by donating time, resources, and finances.

“I am deeply grateful and honored to receive such an esteemed recognition from the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council among such an accomplished group of women business and community leaders from around the country who join me in receiving this award,” said Claudia Mirza.  “I’ve always been passionate about advocating for and helping other women who are or aspire to be business leaders because I understand first-hand the challenges we face.” Congratulations Claudia Mirza!
