Whether you call it random acts of kindness, paying it forward, or good deeds, they are mighty. The ladies of the Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) understand the importance of helping each other.

At our annual Ladies Who Launch event a few years ago, Stephanie Point, Founder & CEO of Point 2 Point Global Security, Inc. was inspired to help fellow WBE, Psyche Terry, Founder & Chief Inspiration Officer of UI Global Brands LLC, by paying for her entrance fee to the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference. “I listened to Psyche's story, via the phone, and again in person, and I didn’t think twice about helping her,” said Stephanie.

“When Stephanie helped me she didn’t know that I had just nearly filed bankruptcy with my business. We had just opened a 40 man cosmetics factory in North Dallas, and while we had succeeded in paying back all our debts and paying all our newly hired staff, we had no money left over to pay ourselves. It was a very bleak time because not only did we extend ourselves, all of the goods we made and sold were returned, so we overextended ourselves, and I was ready to give up. As WBEs you never know what a person is going through and Stephanie just wanted to do a kind deed," said Terry.

These types of kind gestures are what women's empowerment is all about. At WBCS, we work to help WBEs connect, network, and have the tools to succeed in business. But the real inspiration is women working together to promote and better each other.

"Stephanie seemed like a Fairy Godmother, Her business was alive and booming, and she had room to offer an attendee a full day pass. Because of Stephanie, I was energized to stay in the race and build my business," said Psyche. Paying it forward ignites the true spirit of entrepreneurship

"Based on my experience, a new start-up, women-led business, usually doesn't have a ton of money. I offered to pay Pyche’s WBENC National Conference entrance because that’s where she belonged. On the stage, in front of other women, making her move in life and meeting amazing people and her future clients,” said Stephanie Point.

After attending the conference, Psyche had the tools to successfully further her business. She was so inspired to help another WBE one day. This year at Ladies Who Launch, Psyche did just that. "I wanted to provide that same opportunity to another WBE because sitting in the "Ladies Who Launch" room again; it just felt right - hold the door open for someone else and help another lady launch!"

Psyche extended an offer to Sandra Lewis, CEO and Founder of Life At The Table, to attend the 2018 WBENC National Conference & Business Fair. "When Debbie called to tell me that I had been selected to receive a Pay It Forward Scholarship to the WBENC National Conference, my soul took flight. Every time I attend a WBCS meeting, I come away thinking, 'I've met my peeps.' At the events, it's a talented group of women entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners all of whom are welcoming and open to sharing, their ideas, knowledge, and expertise, said Sandra. "I am grateful for Psyche's generosity and her willingness to pay it forward; I am looking for the day that I can do the same "

Acts of kindness build exponentially in a community and because people believe that one good deed deserves another. Paying it forward can make the world of business a better place and the women of WBCS are phenomenal at helping and inspiring each other.
