Q: How much cash is awarded?

A: Any amount up to $5,000 is given to each business awarded a grant. Apply today!

 

Q: Grants are a lot of work; how much time will this take?

A: The online application process is simple, is limited to a two page narrative, and takes an estimated 30 minutes.

 

Q: What qualifies as an acceptable use for the Grant money?

A: It can partially or fully fund the following examples: equipment purchase, technical development or upgrade, consulting services, strategic planning, website development, planning, etc. The scope is very broad; feel free to get creative.

 

Q: What does NOT qualify as an acceptable use for Grant money?

A: Typically administration or overhead costs and staff salaries would not be covered.

 

Q: When do applications need to be submitted and when will I be notified if I win?

A: Grant applications must be completed by the owner of the certified business and submitted by August 5, 2016. Recipients will be announced at the Lillie Knox Memorial Luncheon at Harvesting Partnerships on September 8, 2016. If you submit an application, you must attend Harvesting Partnerships on September 8, 2016.

 

Q: Can I submit if I am a newly certified WBE?

A: All recipients must be an active certified WBE member of the Women’s Business Council – Southwest for at least two years before submission date. (Original certification date must be before 8/5/2014.)

 

Q: I won a Lillie Knox Grant last year, can I still apply this year?

A: WBEs who have received a Lillie Knox Grant in the past are ineligible to submit an application for a period of two years.
