Can you give a brief description of Bullseye Database Marketing?

Bullseye Database Marketing is a data-driven, targeted-marketing firm which offers businesses the opportunity to uncover and take advantage of the marketing opportunities hidden in their Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.

Bullseye has a 25+ year track record of doing new customer acquisition/onboarding and current customer upselling/cross-selling/retention for the ‘big guys’ in financial services – TD Ameritrade, The Dreyfus Corp, BMO Harris Bank, Arvest Bank, Invesco Funds, SPS Payment Systems, United Airlines credit card, Staples credit card, etc. Now, for the first-time, Bullseye plans to ‘package’ a here-to-fore customized targeted marketing solutions into affordable, entry-level services that will allow industries beyond financial services to take advantage of Bullseye's expertise in both business-to-consumer and business-to-business marketing situations.

So if your company has invested in a CRM and is (a) disappointed that it’s not the silver bullet you were expecting, (b) frustrated that it’s harder and more time-consuming than expected, (c) not realizing the Return on Investment that you had hoped, then Bullseye can help!

How/why did you start this business and how did you learn about certification?

Bullseye was founded in 1988; in 2001, the management team led a buy-out when the founder retired. One of Bullseye’s new female owners, formerly a partner at Deloitte, was accustomed to partnering with minority suppliers in responding to RFPs; however, business was so strong that Bullseye did not immediately apply for certification. After the implosion of the financial services industry, however, Bullseye needed to expand its revenue sources and decided to leverage its 90+% female ownership by becoming certified.

How has WBCS membership benefitted your business?

We enjoy the opportunities for professional and personal growth by participating in WBCS programming.  We are still laying the foundation for future contracts and financial gain through our WBE certification.

Additionally, we very much appreciate how supportive the WBCS staff has been, recognizing us as the 2016 Regional Volunteer of the Year.  We also won the Lillie Knox Investing for Growth Award in 2015 to assist in revamping our website.

What is your favorite WBCS event and why?

While we have attended many outstanding events both regionally and nationally as a WBE, our favorite events have been those in Tulsa. These events provide us with an opportunity to connect with other WBEs on a local level and in a more intimate setting, which allows us to successfully discuss potential partnering or business deals.

What is the best reason for another WBE to get certified?

If a WBE offers a widely-used, easily explained, easily understood product or service – promotional items with logos, staffing services, etc. – they should definitely become certified, as large companies seem sincerely eager to support WBEs. If a WBE is based in Dallas, they should definitely become certified, as there are so many opportunities to network with other WBEs in Dallas. Finally, if a WBE is an expert in their field, but perhaps lacks a degree in business, they should become certified, as WBCS programs offer many opportunities for continued learning and mentorship.

How did you make the most of your WBENC certification in your first year of membership?

We firmly believe that one gets out of a relationship what one puts into a relationship.  In evaluating our first year of membership, we concluded that we had failed to make the most of our certification. Therefore, for the last 4 years, we have thrown ourselves into WBCS, traveling to Dallas, Austin and Arkansas to attend events, assisting in coordinating and hosting guests at events in Tulsa, traveling the state of Oklahoma to perform site visits – and we were very honored to be recognized by WBCS in 2016 as Regional Volunteer of the Year.

How has WBCS helped you connect to other WBEs for mutually beneficial partnerships/business deals?

While we have not successfully secured any new business from our WBCS connections, we have partnered with other businesses on several bids and are hopeful we will win something in the near future. We have made great connections with other WBCS members, trading ideas/obtaining potential leads and building new and solid friendships.

Have you volunteered with WBCS? Which events/committees?
