Austin Office Moves to Capital Factory

The Austin Regional office of the Women's Business Council- Southwest has officially moved to Capital Factory! Capital Factory is known as the center of gravity for entrepreneurs in Texas. It's a place where hundreds of entrepreneurs connect through events, classes, mentorship, and co-working everyday. The day kicked off with a seated luncheon where our keynote panel included newly appointed Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall, Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez, and Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson. On Tuesday, November 7 th , six women-owned companies were awarded the Lillie Knox Investing for Growth Grant by the Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) during the Harvesting Partnerships luncheon. Each year, awards of up to $5,000 are presented in Lillie’s memory. Lillie Knox was an important part of the history and current success of the Women’s Business Council – Southwest and the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). On November 14th, The Dallas Entrepreneur Center (The DEC) held its WEDallas Boot Camp to help inspire, equip, and empower women entrepreneurs across North Texas. The event started with a panel discussion on topics affecting women entrepreneurs. It was followed by a keynote speaker and a speed mentorship session. The Capital Factory, an Austin-based coworking space and accelerator for tech businesses, is expanding to Dallas and offering $100,000 to a diverse tech business. This particular challenge will focus on any tech or consumer startup in the North Texas area with at least one female or person of color on the executive team. In addition to the $100,000, the business will receive free coworking space, free hosting, mentorship opportunities, and more.
